eRider Based IT Support for Non-Profit.

1. Network Installation

Cost effective network setup is our primary goal. Our eRider services construct Local Area Newtorks (LANs) for your clients based on the Microsoft Peer-to-Peer, Domain Based and OpenSource standards to help you manage your office.

The advantages of having a LAN at your place of work include:

  • Reduction in Office Peripherals (eg. printers)
  • Access to shared resources (eg. Internet Connections, Data, etc)
  • Better computing (eg. collaborative working enviroments)

2. Backup Implementation

As organisations grow so do their data volumes and needs. With evolving systems and the falable nature of compter systems, it is imperative that developmental organisations implement stable and reliable backup solutions that will cater for their needs. Backup services are often expensive and require specialized knowledge to mantain. This has proved to be a barrier in their implentation in many non-profit organisations where IT skills tend to be below the required level of proficieny needed to correctly back-up and recover data.

The eRider project seeks to implement simple but rigid backup services to client organisations to reduce the loss of data and build capacity in participating organisations to carry through the backup process once the eRider has left.

3. Antivirus Solutions

Security is an important aspect of any computer network. The greatest security treat is not from outside attack but from computer viruses which move through the Internet, LAN or removable media. Having noted that installing effective anti-virus software solutions is only half the problem, our eRider Project looks at the other half which includes:

  • Aids in identifying potential threats

The project also seeks to assist participating organisations with cleanup and recovery.

4. Website Design

Every civil socitey organisation, regardless of its size requires visibliity. The Internet is one such tool that can be used to achieve that through the use of corporate websites that serve as marketing tools. Besides this promotional use, websites have proven to be effective tools for advocacy, the formation of partnerships and as a media through which news can be effectively transmitted to the public. The project seeks to help organisations construct and maintain their own websites.

5. Database Solutions

Databases do not store vast amounts of data. They are critical in the production of timely and accurate information and can help an organisation generate statistics and custom reports concerning their general activities. For this reason, database planning and construction has been added to our list of IT services to help meet the varied needs of participating organistions.

6. Computer Optimization

Most NGOs operating in Zambia are donor funded. The bulk of donor funding available to such organisations is dedicated to programmes. Few organisations have facilities in place to maintain full time information technologists and rely on outsourced help for all their IT needs.

This help includes routine tasks such as those related to computer optimization, much of which can be done without the need for outsourcing. The project seeks to supply such baisc skills to organisations as well as assist with more advanced procedures related to optimization.
